There may not be a lot of snow around at CairnGorm Mountain at present but staff are still gearing up for the new winter season that is due to start officially this Saturday (18th December).
Earlier this month, and throughout November, maintenance staff have been out on the hill erecting, maintaining and testing the various uplifts and tows; the funicular engineering team has been carrying out annual maintenance on both the track and rolling stock; new systems are being installed and checked within the ticket office to ensure an easier day purchase and improved traffic-flow; and customer relations teams and catering staff are preparing for the influx of winter sports enthusiasts that will follow the arrival of the first snow.
As part of its sales and promotional activity, CairnGorm Mountain staff are currently hosting a series of on-site Familiarisation Trips for groups from local retailers to ensure that they can respond to general questions from their own customers intending to head for CairnGorm. The company’s Sales and Events Co-ordinator, Helen Wink (pictured centre) has spent much of the last week hosting eight different groups, all of whom have enjoyed their trip on the funicular, along with their visit to The Ptarmigan, Day Lodge, Base Station and Ticket Office, to experience what’s on offer for the new season.
Said Helen Wink: “In a few of the groups, some individuals were relatively new to the area and this was their first visit to CairnGorm Mountain. Because of that, they were largely unaware of what was on offer and the purpose of these trips is to ensure that, having experienced it themselves at first hand, they are able to advise their own customers and assure them that they too will enjoy visiting us.”
Pictured along with Helen Wink in the Base Station are guests from local retailers Mountain Spirit, Nevisport and the newly opened Cairngorm Mountain Supplies.
