CAIRNGORM PREPARES FOR A PREMIÈRE WITH IMPACT
In what is arguably one of the defining moments of the new wintersports season, CairnGorm Mountain has been chosen by Winterhighland as the launch venue for the public première of this year’s new Warren Miller film IMPACT with two special showings in The Ptarmigan on Saturday 23rd October. Prior to its Blackdiamond National UK tour, which begins immediately after its CairnGorm showing, IMPACT will only have been seen by a limited number of visitors to the London Ski Show where it is being shown for one night only to a restricted audience.

For the last 55 years, Warren Miller movies have inspired generations of would-be ski bums to quit their day jobs, move to the mountains, and live happily ever after. Featuring the best winter athletes of our time, in the most beautiful and pristine locations, IMPACT has a powerful appeal to audiences everywhere. The 55th annual film sweeps you on an untamed adventure: From the jagged peaks of Chamonix, France to the wide open backcountry of Montana; and from the death-defying steeps of Alaska to the snorkel-deep champagne powder of Steamboat, Colorado.

Said Fiona Milligan, CairnGorm Mountain’s Marketing Executive: “IMPACT is a fantastic opportunity for skiers and snowboarders to celebrate the impending winter season by reminding them of the excitement and exhilaration winter sports generate. Being invited to host the first public screening of this year’s Warren Miller spectacular by Winterhighland.com is a huge honour for CairnGorm Mountain and we are very grateful to the many people who have made it happen. To ensure that as many as possible can enjoy this spectacular, we are hosting two screenings for two separate audiences – an early evening one for family audiences at 6.30 p.m. followed by a party to celebrate 10 years of Winterhighland being online, exclusively for adults at 8.30 p.m.”

“Warren Miller’s films are legendary for the quality of their production and for the sheer excitement that they capture and convey and IMPACT is certainly going to be reminding people that the new season is just around the corner. This is certainly a not to-be-missed event and, because it is a Scottish film première, people may even want to dress up for the Première Party Screening in the late evening.”

To avoid families having to drive, the Service Bus 31 will leave Dalfaber at 5.10 p.m. and Aviemore Station at 5.15 p.m. (standard single fare in operation) in time for the Family Screening at 6.30 p.m. with trains to the top leaving the Coire Cas Base Station at 5.45 p.m. and at 6.00 p.m.; the return funicular journey from this showing is at 8.30 p.m. to catch the 9.00 p.m. bus back to Aviemore (no charge). Adult tickets, which include a welcome drink of gluwein on arrival at the top, cost £10 with Concession tickets priced at £7; to encourage families to come along, there is also a special Family Ticket which enables two adults and up to three children to enjoy a unique showing at a special rate of £28.

Warren Miller doesn't stop at delivering an incredible pre-winter spectacular film annually, for the tour itself is half the fun. Each stop on the IMPACT's nationwide tour involving 40 different venues is a high-energy event, and although not part of the offical tour, a party to kick off the official start of winter and the Première Screening at 9.30 p.m. in The Ptarmigan is certainly going to be a fun night with lively music and the bar open until half-past midnight. It’s already shaping up to be the first après-ski bash of the season - without having had to ski or snowboard all day - but, because of the licensing restrictions, this event is not suitable for children who are being catered for by the earlier Family Screening.

The first train for the Première Party Screening leaves at 8.15 p.m. with a link bus service leaving Aviemore Station at 7.30 p.m. (free of charge) and the last train down from The Ptarmigan will leave the top station at 1.15 a.m.

With welcome drinks and canapés, tickets for the Première Party Screening are priced at £15.00 with no concessions and with numbers restricted to 140 partygoers, demand is going to be very high. After all, Warren Miller’s IMPACT does not return to Scotland until mid-November when it will be screened in Edinburgh, Glasgow and one or two other venues but really cool skiers and boarders will already have seen it all at the Première Party Screening at CairnGorm Mountain on Saturday 23rd October.

Tickets for both the Family Screening and the Première Party Screening are available by telephone from 01479 861336 via a credit card booking facility but, because of the time-scale, all tickets must be collected on the day from the Ticket Office within the Base Station at Coire Cas.

Winterhighland would like to thank it's sponsors for this event, Hotscot and Mountain Spirit.
