These mysterious and imaginative oil paintings explore the cycle of birth, life, death and renewal. They are arranged in a cycle of seasons with images drawn from trees and encompass a cycle of human life from foetus to old man.
The inspiration for this series of thirteen paintings sprang from the old Celtic calendar which links each lunar month to a tree with mythical connections. Each of the thirteen pieces is over 1 metre high and over 80 cm wide and together they provide a wonderful reflection of nature, colour and pattern.
The variety of scales, from microscopic to blow-up, makes the exhibition fascinating for all ages and cultures, and is a must for anyone interested in Celtic ideas.
Children too are encouraged to test their observational powers in a game of ZOOM. At the start of the exhibition children can choose from colour cards that contain the details of the intricate pictures. They can then explore the exhibition and find the detail on the real painting.
