The weekend's snowfall has been sufficient for skiers to be out this morning (Monday) at CairnGorm Mountain where, thanks to the uphill lifting being provided by the funicular railway, it is possible to ski between the Ptarmigan and the Base Station via the Traverse, the Zig-zag, the Shieling and the Home Road. Work has also begun in trying to get the piste at Coire Cas working but there is still a bit of snow to be moved before the tows in this area can operate fully. Further falls of snow are forecast for later today as well as for later in the week. Said Tania Adams, CairnGorm Mountain's Marketing Manager: "Some of the areas are still a bit patchy but we felt that, with Christmas just around the corner, it was important that we were up and running as quickly as possible. More snow is forecast later today but, with conditions being somewhat uncertain for later in the week, we are really taking each day as it comes.. However, we are optimistic that people could be enjoying their snowsports during the Festive Season though, of course, we are closed on Christmas Day itself." Ends Full picture facilities are available today at CairnGorm Mountain: simply call Tania Adams (Tel: 07890 734620) or Fiona Milligan (Tel 01479 861326) if you intend coming along to see it all for yourself!
