At the end of a very busy summer season, CairnGorm Mountain, which has already enjoyed its first snow flurries of the season, is closing from Monday 17th November in preparation for the start of the new winter season. It will be “business as usual” on Sunday 16th right up to the last train leaving the Top Station at around 4.00 p.m. and the funicular railway will remain closed for its annual maintenance until early December.
At the same time, the operating company will also be finalising maintenance on the other uphill lifts across the ski area in readiness for the official opening of CairnGorm Mountain as a ski resort on Saturday 20th December, subject to snow conditions.
The success of last year’s Christmas activities at CairnGorm, including Santa’s Grotto within The Ptarmigan, will see them repeated this year with Santa Claus arriving at his mountain grotto – by the funicular railway, of course – on Saturday, 6th December. Santa Claus will be in residence at CairnGorm Mountain on Saturday and Sunday each weekend with extended appearances on Monday, 22nd through to Christmas Eve (24th).
During these three weekends, the Shop @ The Top will also be featuring Christmas promotions involving chocolates (6th/7th), preserves (13th/14th) and glüwein (20th/21st) with sampling opportunities available to add to the CairnGorm Christmas Cheer.
