Bearing in mind that the area has given its name to one of Scotland’s most popular traditional dances, it is hardly surprising to find that ceilidh dancing is popular in Strathspey. But CairnGorm Mountain’s summer programme of Ceilidh Nights in The Ptarmigan Restaurant takes ceilidh dancing to new heights – literally when the venue is some 3,600 feet above sea level!
With a proven track-record of success from last year, when “House Full” signs were often required, the CairnGorm Ceilidh Nights start off at 6.30 p.m. with a magnificent Highland Buffet featuring traditional dishes such as Venison Casserole, Haggis and Clapshot, Mince & Tatties, and Stovies. And all of this can then be worked off when Jock Fraser’s Ceilidh Band from Inverness leads off the night’s dancing from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m...
There’s even a caller with the band to teach the steps to those not accustomed to traditional ceilidh dancing and it’s certainly a night when “Hornpipes, jigs, strathspeys and reels Put life and mettle in their heels …”
At £19.50 for adults, and £9.50 for children between 5 and 10 years, the CairnGorm Ceilidhs represent terrific value for money as well as a great night out in a spectacular setting. The Ceilidhs will be held on Thursday evening between 26th June and 28th August and on Tuesday evenings from 22nd July to 12th August inclusive. Reservations please by calling 01479 861 336
