To underline its commitment to providing quality catering as part of its appeal as an all-year-round visitor destination, CairnGorm Mountain is seeking to appoint a top chef who would be responsible for catering for visitors throughout the year at the UK's highest restaurant.
Well known as a major winter sports area, the opening of the UK's first hi-speed funicular railway at CairnGorm Mountain later this month will open up a totally new market and inject a variety of demand into the range and quality of catering never previously required. Part of this fresh demand will come from within the panoramic 200-seat Ptarmigan restaurant with its spectacular views over the Scottish Highlands, where the company's plans to move into the corporate market are already taking shape.
The new Ptarmigan, with its associated exhibition and retail facilities, is due to open in Spring of next year and a variety of functions, including several conferences and related events, have been booked. There have also been several enquiries and at least three firm bookings for weddings … something that puts a whole new meaning into the concept of a "White Wedding"!
Said Ian Whitaker, the company's recently-appointed Catering and Retailing Manager:
"The aspirations of people visiting tourist attractions are always increasing and they rightly seek quality across the board. We also want to develop fully the corporate business sector, one of the fastest growing areas in tourism development, by promoting special events and functions in what will be a quite unique and very spectacular setting "
"At CairnGorm, we are totally committed to giving all of our visitors a quality experience that will encourage them to come back. Part of this includes providing top grade catering in which we will be encouraging as much use as possible of the fresh produce available locally from this part of the Scottish Highlands. It is a challenging post for a top chef and there is no doubt that whoever takes up the challenge will be, quite literally, heading for the top.". Ends
