Higher Ground Heads for Highest Venue
The latest Warren Miller Film, HIGHER GROUND will be making it's debut in The Ptarmigan at CairnGorm Mountain on Saturday 22nd October. HIGHER GROUND chronicles skiers and snowboarders in their never-ending search for new and thrilling ways to ride the snow. Crisscrossing the globe, hitting the steeps of Alaska, terrain parks in Colorado, deep powder in British Columbia and cliffs in Switzerland, Warren Miller’s HIGHER GROUND brings skiing and snowboarding to life on the big screen as no other action sports film has done before as the country’s first-ever high-definition film tour.

“Skiers and snowboarders constantly stretch and push limits: physical, emotional and gravitational,” says Max Bervy, HIGHER GROUND Producer/Director. “To achieve HIGHER GROUND we set out to capture a select group of individuals in amazing locations, pushing their athletic boundaries. For mountaineer Dave Barlia it meant flying 10 feet off the ground, at 130 miles per hour, while wearing his winged suit on the slopes of Chamonix, France. For World Cup mogul champion and Olympic Gold Medal favorite Jeremy Bloom, ‘it was a life changing experience,’ when we invited him to heli-ski for the first time in the wild backcountry terrain of British Columbia.”

Part action/adventure, part documentary, Warren Miller’s HIGHER GROUND also features legendary athletes such as big mountain skiers Jeremy Nobis and Seth Morrison, Ski-BASE jumping innovator Shane McConkey, and the sport’s hot-dogging icon, Glen Plake, as well as up and coming stars like five-year-old phenom Bridger Gile.

Warren Miller’s HIGHER GROUND will tour the country from October to December 2005 as a limited release. With screenings often running for one night only, Warren Miller films have drawn a dedicated band of followers with thousands attending each year.

To avoid families having to drive, the Service Bus 31 leaves Aviemore Station at 5.15pm and arrives at the Daylodge in time for the first train up for the family show, with a complimentary free bus back to Aviemore after the show. Adult tickets cost just £10 including a glass of gluwein, with concession tickets at £7 and to encourage families along there is a special Family Ticket which allows two adults and up to 3 children to enjoy this unique showing of HIGHER GROUND for just £28. All tickets include the funicular journey.

Every stop on the Warren Miller Tour is a party to kick start the season, but that's especially true of the Party Premiere at 9pm; with lively music and the Ptarmigan Bar open till 1am, it's a chance not just to see HIGHER GROUND first, but to party at 3600ft. The first train up for the Party Screening heads for higher ground at 9pm and Winterhighland is laying on a free bus from Aviemore, departing Dalfaber at 8.10pm, the Aviemore Railway Station at 8.15pm and Glenmore at 8.30pm.

With a Champagne and canapé Reception on arrival after the unique night time funicular journey up the 'Gorm, Party tickets are priced at £17; with numbers strictly limited to 140party goers and this being the UK debut of HIGHER GROUND demand will be very high.

Tickets for both the Family Screening and the Party Premiere Screening on Saturday 22nd October are available via a credit/debit card Ticket Hotline on 01479 861336, or in person from the Base Station ticket office on CairnGorm Mountain.
